About TheFashionBlogger

I have a passion for make-up and I love fashion. I also have a constantly growing collection of nail polish and books, which never fail to keep me entertained on a rainy day.

Hair combs

I finally watched The Great Gatsby and wanted to bring some of that 20’s fashion into my everyday life, so I went shopping and bought myself a beautiful golden hair comb.

The easiest way to get one to stay in your hair, is to put a bobby pin in your hair first and them slide the comb behind it, so the top covers the pin. You can also make a braid and put  the comb at the top.

What’s so great about these, is that you can go as subtle or big as you want. They come in all sizes and you don’t have to spend a lot of money. I got mine for 9 euros, but in the shop where I got it (Bijou Brigitte), the price went as low as 3 for some.

Minimalism

It’s absolutely true when they say that less is more. This summer, you can spot the simple but elegant creations on the catwalk. Calvin Klein, Hermes, Valentino and many more have already made this trend their own.

One of the best things about this, is defenitely that you don’t have to bother with lots necklaces, bracelets or rings. A simple clutch and a nice pair of shoes and you’re ready to go!

Papercuts and chapped lips

If you thought lip balm and chapstick were only used for dry lips, think again. If you’re like me and regularly get papercuts, I have a simple tip to help you.

Papercuts heal faster and don’t sting as much if you apply a little lip balm or chapstick on them. It will seal the cut and prevent bacteria from entering the it. Yet another reason to always have on with you!

Finding the right bra

If there’s one thing every girl and woman should invest in, it’s a decent bra. I’ve found it’s best to ask for help in the shop if you can’t find the right one, or you don’t know what size you should get. Bra’s that don’t fit right can cause discomfort and even pain, so you should always take your time picking one.

Personally, I really like the bra’s from Prima Donna and Chantelle. You can also fit a prosthetic in them if you have one and nobody will notice, because if you have the right shape and size of bra, it won’t be visible at all.

Instead of buying a plain black or white bra, try to go for something different like one with lace or colours. Wearing nice underwear will immediately make you feel better and if you feel good, you’ll look good to.

Harem pants

They were a big trend a few years ago and it seems like the harem pants are making a comeback. I bought one myself yesterday and it’s certainly something I should have done a long time ago.

The black and white harem pants match great with colourful tops, while the ones with patterns look best with plain tops. They not only look fun to wear, they actually are.

The material is really comfortable and you don’t have that restricting feeling you sometimes get when you wear jeans, so basically, it feels like you’re wearing pajama pants. I’m going back to the shop today to buy myself a few more.

Loafers

The other day, I was looking for a pair of shoes which I could wear all day without my feet hurting. I found a pair of loafers that are not only really comfortable, but look great too. I used to think only old people wore them, but there are so many designs and colours right now, that anyone could pull them off. If you’re looking for a pair of shoes, but don’t know what to get, I suggest you go buy yourself a pair of loafers.

From fantasy to reality

I saw a documentary about extreme makeovers yesterday and decided to do a little research. I found two women who transformed themselves completely.

First, there’s a Russian model who now looks like a living Barbie doll. Her name is Valeria Lukyanova and she claims her face and figure are the result of make-up and genetics. Plastic surgery experts however, refuse to believe this. I’ll leave it up to you to decide.

There’s also a Ukrainian woman you would easily mistake for a living anime character. Anatasiya Shpagina has make-up tutorials on youtube which have been viewed by over 4 million people.  She hasn’t had plastic surgery (yet) and spends hours on her make-up everyday.

Personally, I think everyone is allowed to do with their body what they want and I do think they look good, but it’s a step too far for me.

Central heterochromia

I just found out I have central heterochromia, I never really thought about why my eyes had two colours -orange and green- but today I came across a website which mentioned the different kinds of heterochromia and I went ‘oh look I have that too’.

I know you can’t see it clearly in the photo, but I have an orange ring around my pupil, while the rest of my iris is green.

Central heterochromia

There are different types of heterochromia (central, two different eyes,…) and the one I have isn’t that rare. I still like the way it looks though and I think on some people it looks really cool.

KIS argan oil power serum

People always ask me which products I use to keep my hair healthy and soft. I don’t really use anything other than normal shampoo and conditioner, but one thing I can’t go without is  the argan oil power serum from KIS.

My hair used to be really dry, so I asked my hairdresser what I could do about it and he recommended it to me. I was quite skeptical at first, but it really works!

You just take a little oil after you’ve blow dried your haird and use your hands to apply it on the tips of your hair and then on the rest. Don’t use too much, otherwise it will look greasy.

I can certainly recommend it for slightly damaged hair, because the oil will make your hair look healthy and shiny. I don’t know if it’s available everywhere though, seeing as it’s a Belgian brand.
