Hair combs

I finally watched The Great Gatsby and wanted to bring some of that 20’s fashion into my everyday life, so I went shopping and bought myself a beautiful golden hair comb.

The easiest way to get one to stay in your hair, is to put a bobby pin in your hair first and them slide the comb behind it, so the top covers the pin. You can also make a braid and put  the comb at the top.

What’s so great about these, is that you can go as subtle or big as you want. They come in all sizes and you don’t have to spend a lot of money. I got mine for 9 euros, but in the shop where I got it (Bijou Brigitte), the price went as low as 3 for some.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day

Even though we don’t celebrate St. Patrick’s Day here, I’ve decided to colour my blog green today. If you’re looking for nail art, accessories or make-up which will make you fit in perfectly today, you’ve come to the right place. Check out a few ideas, I’ve kept it quite subtle, but you can always take it a little further and go for a bright green hat or pants.

Statement sunglasses

Although the sun hasn’t showed itself much yet, the big statement sunglasses are definitely making a comeback . While the brightly coloured ones are my favourite, I also love the softer pastels. It doesn’t end there though, crazy designs, prints, everything you can think of. I already have two pairs of sunglasses, but I’m considering getting myself a pair with cute little flowers, like the one below.

Shopping in Brussels

Me and my friends went to Brussels today and after running to catch the right train and a brief moment when we might have been a bit lost, we arrived at the MAC store. The people who worked there were very friendly, talked to us about the MAC products and even gave us a demo. Their brushes and make-up are great for professionals in the make-up business. Everyone can go shopping they have really good cosmetic products and will help you if you don’t know what kind of make-up is best for your skin type.

After that, we want to the Make Up For Ever shop to look at their products. They have a wide range of cosmetics, from bodypaint to contacts and normal make-up. There’s also an academy, where people from all over the world, who want to be a professional make-up artist, come to learn. You should definitely visit them if you’re ever in Brussels.

We also went shopping, which was a little confusing at first, because a lot of the shop assistants spoke French (I understand it, but don’t really speak it fluently) but eventually, we figured it out. I bought a light blue Shamballa bracelet, which is a Tibetan bracelet that should bring luck to whoever’s wearing it -let’s hope it works- and lots of sweets from Sucx. I have a big sweeth tooth and I felt like I was in heaven! If I ever go to Brussels again, there’s no doubt I’m going back to that shop.

Hair accessories

I’m really proud of my long hair and I always try to make it look as good as possible, by curling it, or using hair accessories. That’s probably why I’m constantly looking for cute hairpins and such. They’re great, because you can do lots of things with them and get really creative. For example: when you’re having a bad hair day, you can tie your hair in a ponytail and make it a little more exciting with a colourful hair band. You can go for vintage hairbands, or go colourful with flashy hairpins. It’s entirely up to you!

Vintage stuff

I’ve recently discovered I have a passion for vintage accessories, after I received some from my grandmother. I am now the owner of pair of really nice leather gloves and a beautiful ring. I’ve always liked vintage furniture too, because the design is usually more detailed and I love that old look. It makes me feel like I’m in a different era, if only for a minute.

Noticing the details

Whether it’s about fashion, make-up or just in general, I’ve found the smaller things to be the most beautiful. For example, I just love how a simple belt can change an entire outfit, or how a little jewelry can make you stand out. That’s why I always pay attention to the details, because the littlest things can make the biggest difference.

Pastel and neon

A great trend to try out this spring is wearing soft pastels. If you don’t particularly like light colours, you can try combining them with brighter neon ones. Just experiment with different accessories and clothes, until you find something you like. Personally, I like to wear a pastel coloured dress or top, combined with neon accessories. That way, my outfit stands out, without being too bright.
