Papercuts and chapped lips

If you thought lip balm and chapstick were only used for dry lips, think again. If you’re like me and regularly get papercuts, I have a simple tip to help you.

Papercuts heal faster and don’t sting as much if you apply a little lip balm or chapstick on them. It will seal the cut and prevent bacteria from entering the it. Yet another reason to always have on with you!

Finding the right bra

If there’s one thing every girl and woman should invest in, it’s a decent bra. I’ve found it’s best to ask for help in the shop if you can’t find the right one, or you don’t know what size you should get. Bra’s that don’t fit right can cause discomfort and even pain, so you should always take your time picking one.

Personally, I really like the bra’s from Prima Donna and Chantelle. You can also fit a prosthetic in them if you have one and nobody will notice, because if you have the right shape and size of bra, it won’t be visible at all.

Instead of buying a plain black or white bra, try to go for something different like one with lace or colours. Wearing nice underwear will immediately make you feel better and if you feel good, you’ll look good to.

From fantasy to reality

I saw a documentary about extreme makeovers yesterday and decided to do a little research. I found two women who transformed themselves completely.

First, there’s a Russian model who now looks like a living Barbie doll. Her name is Valeria Lukyanova and she claims her face and figure are the result of make-up and genetics. Plastic surgery experts however, refuse to believe this. I’ll leave it up to you to decide.

There’s also a Ukrainian woman you would easily mistake for a living anime character. Anatasiya Shpagina has make-up tutorials on youtube which have been viewed by over 4 million people.  She hasn’t had plastic surgery (yet) and spends hours on her make-up everyday.

Personally, I think everyone is allowed to do with their body what they want and I do think they look good, but it’s a step too far for me.

The quiet place

If you ever need to relax for a moment, or when you’re looking for a little bit of peace and quiet, you should visit this site. It helps you calm down when you’re stressed and forget your problems for a moment.

Dry skin and foundation

When you’ve got dry skin like me, applying foundation can cause your skin to get quite flaky. It can create smudges and even though you try to remove the flakes of dry skin, you will just create more. An easy trick is to take a little moisturizer and mix it with your foundation. Don’t take too much, about 1/4 of moisturizer in comparison to the foundation will do. Now, you should be able to apply your make-up without worrying and it will also look more natural, as the colour won’t be as dark anymore.

Applying your foundation with a mask brush will help to prevent smudges and apply it evenly. When you apply your make-up with a sponge, the sponge will also absorb a lot of the foundation, which the brush won’t. That’s why some professionals prefer to use a mask brush, to which I couldn’t agree more.

There is not much I can add to this, I think the photo speaks for itself. Don’t let anybody ever tell you you don’t have the right look or weight. Our imperfections make us who we are, in a world where everybody wants to be someone else.

Beauty tip

If you have bags under your eyes because you haven’t slept enough, or you’re sick, this might be a useful trick. Put two teaspoons in the fridge, until they’ve cooled. Hold the underside of the spoons under your eyes and keep them there, until they warm up again. The cold will reduce the swelling and if necessary, you can also use a light concealer.

Lemon honey mask

Lemon and honey aren’t only used as food, they also make a great face mask. It’s good for minimizing pore size, drying out pimples, reducing redness and much more. I tried it and I’m pleased about the result. All you need is 1/2 of a lemon and two teaspoons of honey. You can also use lemon oil, it works equally well. Just mix the lemon juice and the honey, until it’s well blended and apply it to a cleansed face. Leave it on for about 15 minutes and rinse off with cold water.

Attention! Don’t use it after you’ve exfoliated your face, the lemon might sting. Also, make sure you’ve thoroughly removed the mask before going out in the sun, because the combination of the lemon with the sun might cause damage to your face.

Tattoo

As well as piercings, tattoos are still popular. They can look really bad, or get infected when you don’t get them at the right place, so make sure you always go to a certified tattoo artist who works hygienically!

Here are a few ones that I think would be worth the pain of the whole tattooing proces, but remember: unless you have them removed, they’ll be there for the rest of your life.

Jobs

I’ve been wondering lately; what’s the perfect job in the beauty and/or fashion sector? The answer: I have absolutely no idea, but a career as make-up artist sounds really appealing to me. It’s so difficult to decide, when there are so many fun and interesting jobs out there.

 Beautician?

 Make-up artist?

 Physiotherapist?
